final fashion week
Sorry for not posting all week, but i was very busy. So the final fashion week post (or so i say now) but just wanting to catch up on the fashion shows.
I liked the jackets and coats showed and also the small coverups. One of my favorite outfits was the one at the end.
Christian's show was mostly greys, but the small bits of color he had was wonderful. Like in the dress to the right. Also, i liked the colored tights paired with plain and simple dresses. I thought he was again, very successful with this show.
Badgley Mischka's fashion show was a mixture between all black pieces and totally bright outfits. But there werent that many pieces that were interesting, so i picked my favorites.

day 4.
after a long day of school, i just wanted to a bit on day four of fashion week with Diane's show. *drool* it was amazing! some of my favorite pictures:
The first look of the show, and it was a great way to start off.
I love how the whole collection had a modernized look to the hippie-chic. Any thoughts on this collection or others on day four?

fashion week: day three
It was a typical fashion show for Rock and Republic 's spring fashion show, but that doesnt mean I didnt love it. It was a wonderful mix of grunge with a bit of ruffles here and there. Plus, an essential pair of worn jeans (middle photo) and then some wonderful shapes with the dresses. Like in the first and last photo.
This show was about pops of color with essential spring looks. In many looks there were oversized berets, some with embellishments some without, but i absolutely loved them and will be investing in one for spring. I liked how in look two (above) there was a floor-length dress with a slit all the way up to her waist, but paired with shorts underneath. I thought this was very innovative to do this. Also, in the last outfit, i loved the ombre skirt with the small sweater. How wonderful.
It was a wonderful blend of shapes and symmetry in this show, but they switched it up a bit with Alice and Wonderful style dresses (look two). They also showed a display of colorful tights (look one) and paired tights with sandals, which you would think wouldn't look normal, but here it was wonderful. I loved the last look, with so many additions and symmetry that went together perfectly.

what do you think?
fashion week: day 2
Shipley & Hamos: The thing about this collection is that even though it was for spring, it seemed a bit darker with greys, beiges, and blacks. But i really liked this first outfit because the top is colorful and with the shorts is a great outfit.
Erin Fetherston: I loved the way she used the color scheme of white, beige, and blues. It was like how you would dress at the beach, but very transferable to your every day life. It was hard deciding on which looks were my favorites because I liked most of them. But these stood out to me, especially the last two dresses which were toward the end of the show and a great way to end.
BCBG Max Azaria: One of my favorite looks was the second look (above). I loved the criss/cross at the top and the material. I also liked The middle outfit because it was a mix between grunge and pretty with the top a leather-like material and the bottom a jersey draping.
Jason Wu: With the first look is a splash of color with the bright shorts and pink on the top. I loved how throughout the collection, he put in where the wouldnt normally be found. Like in the second outfit where a very girlie pink coat is accompanied by a more manly hat. I loved the white and black coat in the fourth look with the details running upwards.
Yigal Azrouel: I thought his collection was very different than the others because every piece was different, and innovative. In the collection was a variety of many different shapes and styles, which made you look twice at the clothes. This is hard to get at, but wonderful if you can achieve.
TSE: In the collection are sleek and simple looks displayed above. But what made them different is the little details. Like in the white dress, the middle of it has a bit of ruffles. I liked how in the first look they displayed how you can wear a scarf even throughout the spring.
love,
miss fashionista.

she's back!
hello there. yes, i know i haven't quite kept up with blogging, i am coming back starting with fashion week and will do my best to blog as much as my schedule allows with school and all.
for this comeback post, i am reporting on the first day of fashion week with my favorites looks, and the trends for spring 2009.
First starting with Sue Stemp. One thing i love throughout the collection is the hairstyling. The bows are perfection with puffed hair.
1. In the first look is a white tiered, lacey dress with a few embellishments. I love the simplicity of the look and how it captures the essence of spring: which is wearing white!
2.The next outfit is a high-waisted pant with a cloth belt and a coat. The belt adds a nice waist line, and also creates diversity, so you could wear this look in a few different ways.
3. A simple black dress with a bit of a twist to it. The bust is a cream color, which makes the dress feel a little more spring-y.
4. This was one of my favorites outfits from the first day of fashion week because this beige outfit is perfect for casual or dressed up attire. The best part is how the pants are draped from the waist down, and the bottom makes the outfit flow.
5. The designer likes to play around with waistlines, which we can see here again. I love the black shorts, and the ruffled top is perfectly matched.
6. Last is a simple white dress with embellished flowers with hints of black throughout. So simple but so elegant.
I found in the spring rtw collection of Rachel Roy her best pieces were here dresses. So here are my favorite.
1. This pantsuit was simplistic and elegant.
2. The draping and style of the top of the dress reminded me of the alberta ferretti dress Lauren Conrad wore to that ball in Paris (if you watch the hills). I love this piece because the bottom looks like a Greek goddess and contrasts with the tighter top.
3. Oh my goodness. I absolutely loved this dress when i saw it. It is whimsical with the writing on there, but very wearable at the same time.
4. The volume in the bottom of the dress is not noticed until you look carefully, which is well though out because volume in the bottom of a dress cannot be too 'out there'. But this dress paired with the shoes was marvelous.
5. I see this last piece of being younger with the multiple strands of pearls and pops of color. I like the added strip of gold at the bottom.
Travata's designs included many 'menswear' pieces, but transformed into women.
1. The first look is a blazer with a white piece underneath. I like the touch of the rolled sleeves of the blazer because it made it seem more casual and spring.
2. I liked everything about this outfit. The beige in the shirt with the white blazer and pants went together. And even though both the jacket and pants were white shades, they were different material. Also, if you look at the shoes, they are a Ked-like sneaker which gives off a beachy vibe.
3. This look is very simple, but what i liked was the braiding down the middle of the top.
4. I also liked this one because it is a total mens-wear outfit with a 'tuxedo' shirt and blazer, but i love the bikini bottom made from a black, almost jeweled material.
Elie Tahari was not too impressive, but i seemed to pick out a few favorites.
1. A very long, printed dress which is quintessential spring.
2. A white blouse belted with a long print skirt. This appealed to me because it is figure flattery with the waistline and the sleeves are the right length to go with a long skirt.
3. This piece was interesting because the bathing suit on the bottom is cut like in the 80's, but then you have a top tucked in and a rather long blazer, but as a whole, it seems to go together very nicely.
4. I really liked the contrast between the triangular part of the top bikini, and then the full pants on the bottom layered with a longer jacket.
more to come tomorrow!
p.s. thank fashionista from tres tres chic who helped to create the wonderful collages of pictures from fashion week!

Lagerfeld's collection matches his dark personality
A quote from him which he said in an interview which was in Elle, last year around November...
"I am never happy. Happiness scares me, then I am afraid to be less happy. Happiness is a very dangerous state of mind."
this quote reflects what his Fall 2008 r-t-w collection shows. But i have to say, although most of his pieces are dark colored, they are truly magnificent.

wonderful white.
white is of course the color of summer, so why not take advantage of it? go crazy and wear white, but what you do is accent your outfit with colorful neon accessories.
This Rebecca Taylor dress is light and flowy, perfect for hot summer days.
I adore these Tory Burch flip flop's which are perfect to pair with this dress.
I would wear this Juicy classic, a terry clothed dress, by the pool. Because if it gets wet, you still look gorgeous.
The just add these turquoise studs, and fierce.
An Alice and Olivia smock dress and then BAM
A pair of Christian Louboutin wedges would add some major pizazz!
A Nanette Lepore eyelet dress, which I love the back of.
You could go a little more light with the color and put on this Marc Jacobs necklace, or...
A classic Tory Burch tote, and with some orange shoes like the model is wearing it would match perfectly.
This is a simple, but chic white dress from Urban Outfitters.
Which would match well with these B-Low belts. Choose between the thicker, neon ones with the bows or.
The thinner, neon belted ones. Either way you couldn't go wrong.
